Sixth Grade
My first three years teaching, I was a learning disability tutor at Main Elementary School in Beavercreek, Ohio. During my last year at Beavercreek, my husband took a job in Cincinnati. We relocated and the drive convinced me I needed to find a job locally. I was hired to teach in a SBH (Severe Behavior Handicap) classroom. I held this job for four years. The following two years, I taught third grade. The remainder of my time in Covington was in a combination 5th/6th grade room. In 1999, I accepted a position at Eden Grove Academy. The fifth through eighth grade are departmentalized this year. My homeroom class is the sixth grade. I teach writing, English, spelling, science, and Bible to my homeroom. After lunch, we switch classes. I teach English to the fifth, seventh, and eighth grade classrooms. While academics are an important part of what we do at Eden Grove Academy, our spiritual emphasis is vitally important. My prayer is that when the students leave Eden Grove that they are able to succeed at any school they attend academically as well as stand firm as a Christian. I want my students to leave my room "rooted and grounded" in the knowledge of Jesus.
