Frequently Asked Questions

get started?

EDEN GROVE ACADEMY, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an interdenominational school with a biblically integrated curriculum for kids in grades K-8. Eden Grove Academy was founded in 1921.

Attractive green lawns and mature trees provide ample space for outdoor activities.

Eden Grove Academy is characterized by high academic standards, qualified staff, and newer facilities and equipment.  Our main building was completed in 1976.

Eden Grove Academy is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International, and has its State Charter from the State of Ohio.

What is Eden Grove Academy
trying to accomplish?

Eden Grove Academy exists for the daily instruction of our children toward the end of preparing each student for God honoring service in the Kingdom of God. We are not trying to escape from the world but rather to equip and train our covenant children to live for Christ and His Kingdom in the world today. Students are to be constantly taught both truth and wisdom (application of truth to their lives and the culture around them). We are committed to guiding students in the learning process by giving them opportunities to put their newly developed skills into practice through ministry projects and activities by serving others to the glory of God.

Is there a commitment to excellence in academics?

We believe that excellence in education is best defined as righteousness and truth evidenced in lives lived in service to the Lord Jesus Christ. This involves knowing basic skills of reading, writing, math, etc., with a view of life that is integrated by Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible. He is the One through whom all things were made, for whom all things were made, and in whom all things hold together (Colossians 1: 9-23). We do give standardized achievement tests each year to evaluate how well we are doing on basic skill development.

What is a chartered religious school?

The Ohio Department of Education makes provisions for chartered, non-tax supported schools that are religiously based. There are standards related to the school year, the school day, pupil attendance, teacher and administrator qualifications, courses of study, pupil promotion, and pupil health safety. Eden Grove Academy meets these  standards. It is our deeply held conviction that God has placed responsibility and authority in education in the hands of the parents and not the state (Deuteronomy 6: 1-9, Ephesians 6:4). Since the state is committed by definition to keeping God out of education, we as parents are very cautious and careful about yielding this God-given authority for our children to the state.

Who runs Eden Grove Academy?

The Eden Grove Academy Advisory Committee, made up of parents and Staff, is the legal authority for Eden Grove Academy. The Advisory Committee holds meetings monthly and as needed throughout the year and is responsible for the election of Advisory Committee members, hearing of progress reports on the state of the school, and giving input on the budget. The Advisory Committee is then responsible for carrying out decisions. The day to day authority in the school is in the hands of the Administrator, who acts in harmony with and on behalf of the Advisory Committee.

What is the theological perspective of Eden Grove Academy?

Eden Grove Academy is committed to the Bible as God's inspired and authoritative Word, the only infallible rule of faith and life. We believe that the purest expression of biblical doctrine is found in the reformed confessions rooted in the Protestant Reformation. The essential principles of these confessions are represented in our Foundation Principles of Education, a part of our Constitution to which each board member and teacher must affirm commitment. In order to be a member of the Eden Grove Academy Association or to enroll children in the school, we require all Association members and at least one parent of each child in the school to subscribe to the seven point statement of faith in the National Association of Evangelicals.
